Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
For Direct Recruitment:

Required Experience
- 17 years total experience including:
- Minimum 5 years in a managerial position handling R&D projects independently (as PI/Co-PI of scientific studies, Head of Research Groups/Centres/Institutes/Laboratories)
- Minimum 3 years regular service in Pay Matrix Level-14 or equivalent
Desirable Experience
- Expertise in Human Health, Animal Health and their interface with the environment
- R&D work in microbiology, virology, immunology, infectious diseases, epidemiology and disease surveillance
- High impact publications in national and international journals
- National and international networking with institutes on infectious diseases and public health

Selection Process
Selection for ICMR Recruitment 2026 will be done in the following stages:
- Initial Shortlisting — All candidates fulfilling minimum eligibility (age, qualification, experience) will be shortlisted
- Further Shortlisting (if applications are high) — Based on higher experience in relevant fields or higher educational qualification, as decided by Competent Authority, ICMR
- Personal Discussion / Interview — Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal discussion
Note: Candidates working in Central/State Govt/PSU/Govt-funded Research Agencies must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of personal discussion, with an undertaking that they will be relieved within one month of receipt of appointment order.
